What the small bumps look like right after Rejuran.
Small raised bumps at the injection points are a common, short-lived reaction while the skin absorbs the product. They usually settle in about 1-3 days, and mild redness in about 1-2 days. It varies by person.

THE EMBO TECHNIQUE

Rejuran is not one shot. It is many tiny injections across the skin, so the result depends on where each one lands and how evenly the area is covered. That is the second of the two things we build our Rejuran around.

What Rejuran puts in
Rejuran contains polynucleotide (PN) from salmon DNA, made by PharmaResearch. In laboratory studies, PN and the related PDRN are linked to adenosine A2A receptor signalling and to more active fibroblasts and matrix production. Human evidence is still more limited.[1]

Why placement matters
The dermis is thin: about 0.5-2 mm depending on the area. Cadaver and ultrasound work shows that needle length and angle decide whether the product lands inside the dermis or below it. Depth is a choice the hand makes at every point.[2]

What the “embo” is
Each small injection leaves a tiny raised bump (embo) where the product sits for a short time. At the clinic we see these usually settle in about 1-3 days. Fine needles and serial small injections into the dermis are a common way to place PN: in a 2024 survey of 235 Korean dermatologists, many used a 33G needle and serial puncture.[3] [4]

Why depth matters
The same procedure, different results. Why?
Rejuran is made of PN (polynucleotide) from salmon DNA. It stimulates fibroblasts in the dermis to produce collagen and elastin, which keep skin elastic.
Too shallow or too deep
Fibroblasts sit mainly in the dermal layer, about 0.5 to 2 mm beneath the surface. Shallow injections tend to hurt more, and some are placed deeper than necessary, which can reduce the effect.
Accurate depth
Injecting into the dermal layer is what matters. Pain control lets the doctor stay at the right depth, which is why we pair Rejuran with plasma 5-step anesthesia (5A+).

Why it hurts
Rejuran’s pain comes from the product. How much you feel is up to the setup.
From the clinic’s own patient guide. Rejuran’s PN is a high-molecular, high-viscosity solution. It has to be pressed into the dense dermis, which pushes against nearby nerves and tissue. It cannot be removed entirely, but it can be controlled.

What to expect, and what to avoid at first
The clinic describes Rejuran as a quick-recovery treatment. Small bumps (“embo”), mild redness and a little soreness can appear. In the clinic’s own guidance they usually fade within a few days, but recovery varies by person.
Do
- Keep using moisturizer and sunscreen
- Wash gently with lukewarm water on the day
- Wear light makeup only after 24 hours
Avoid at first
- Sauna, steam rooms, hot baths and hard exercise (about the first week)
- Alcohol and smoking (the clinic advises 1–2 weeks)
- Scrubs, peels and touching the treated skin
- Testing new cosmetics
