Thread lift Korea cost: how do you work out what your own face would cost, when every forum post seems to quote something different?

Read this before you send a single message to a clinic.

By the end you'll know which methods exist, what decides the cost of each, what forum posts get right and wrong, and how long recovery takes. That's enough to tell which plan fits your face, your leave days and your budget.

Hello, I'm Dr. Kim Yoo-ju, Founder & Medical Director of Time Return Clinic in Yeouido, Seoul.

Our collagen-film thread lifting is patented in Korea (registered in 2021), and I'm a key doctor for TAPS, Quill and Apromedion thread lifting. Entry points sit inside the hairline, an AccuVein vein viewer shows blood vessels so they can be avoided, and the threads are cannula-type.

I'm writing this because people often compare thread lift quotes as if every face needed the same thing. The thread count, the area and the add-ons change from one face to the next.

There is no single figure. Your thread lift Korea cost comes down to the method, the area and number of threads, whether filler or a fat-reduction injection is added, and how many sessions or trips the plan takes. We set every plan after assessing your skin, so the fee is confirmed by message.

If you want a starting point, send two daylight photos on WhatsApp, one from the front and one from the side, and ask what it would cost for your case. A real side view of your jawline gives that first conversation something concrete to work from.

Why does a thread lift quote change so much from one face to the next?

The price follows the plan, and the plan follows how much tissue has to move and in which direction.

A thread lift places dissolvable threads under the skin. Small barbs or cones along each thread grip the soft tissue so it can be lifted and held, and the body forms collagen around the thread as it slowly dissolves. A jawline that has only started to soften may need a few threads along one line. Cheeks that have slid toward the jaw, with fullness gathering beneath it, need more threads, more directions of pull and often a second step.

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons describes a thread lift as a less invasive option for mild to moderate sagging, with results that are more modest and shorter-lived than a surgical facelift. That matters for cost too. You are paying to reposition and support tissue for a period of time, and loose skin is not removed.

Doctor's note

The first thing I want to know about a face is whether the tissue is loose or heavy. Loose skin over a moderate amount of fat usually lifts well. When most of the heaviness under the jaw is fat, threads are being asked to hold more weight than they should, and I would rather reduce that fat first than add more threads.

The thread lift methods we offer, and who each one suits

For the face, we use Leeds Turn thread lifting with our patented collagen-film thread. The entry points are placed inside the hairline, and the threads are not brought out toward the cheekbones. The aims are to reshape the jaw and cheek line, correct asymmetry, reposition fat and support collagen and elasticity.

Some faces need more than threads. Our three-step face line program combines thread lifting for the sagging line, 3D Balance filler where volume is missing, and Minus Fat injections where there is too much fat. Thread lifting is also often combined with Ulthera, Rejuran or skin boosters when skin quality is part of the problem. If you're weighing Rejuran as an add-on, read what decides the cost of Rejuran in Korea before you ask for a combined figure.

For the body, Body Ssok lifting uses a dissolving collagen-film thread made for the body. It is meant for loose skin after liposuction or a large weight loss, an abdomen that hasn't recovered after pregnancy, or skin on the abdomen and the inner and back thighs that has lost firmness. The program runs in three steps: V-MAX ultrasound lifting to tighten the area, Minus Fat to smooth fat and cellulite, then the body thread lift itself.

Many people search for a “PDO thread lift Korea”. PDO stands for polydioxanone, a dissolvable suture material used in many lifting threads. Whatever a clinic offers you, ask which thread type is planned for your face and why.

What decides what you pay?

Five things move the figure, and most of them come from your face. Your thread lift Korea cost is the sum of these choices.

What moves the cost Why it moves it What to send or ask
Method Face threads, the three-step face line program and Body Ssok lifting are different plans with different steps Say whether your concern is the face, the body or both
Area and thread count A jawline alone needs fewer threads than cheeks, jawline and under-chin together A front and a side photo in daylight
Add-ons Filler, Minus Fat, Ulthera or Rejuran each add a step Ask for the figure with and without each add-on
Numbing We use an anesthesia system first used in dentistry, and local numbing can be added during the procedure Ask what the figure includes
Sessions and trips Body plans usually run over several sessions, which can mean more than one trip Whether you can come back to Seoul

There is no fixed package. The doctor checks your condition and concerns first, and the plan is set one to one. For the body, the clinic's guide is about three to five sessions, one to two months apart, set by how loose the skin is. If you can only come to Seoul once, say so at the start, because that changes which plan makes sense.

To get the figure for your own case, ask on WhatsApp what it would cost and what that figure includes: the threads, any add-on, the numbing, and any check before you fly.

What forum posts get right and wrong

Read enough posts about Korean thread lifts and the same four claims keep coming up.

“It's a facelift without surgery.” Not quite. Threads support tissue for a time; a lot of loose skin is a question for a surgeon.

Risks and side effects to know

“You can go straight back to normal.” Sometimes. Temporary bruising or swelling can still occur and varies by person, and many people feel tightness when they open their mouth wide in the first days.

“It dropped after a month, so it failed.” Partly true. Early swelling makes the first days look tighter than the result will be, and as it settles the face relaxes into its actual lift. How long that lift holds is set by the thread type, your tissue and maintenance; for Body Ssok lifting the clinic's guide is usually about one to three years.

“Dimples mean the doctor did it wrong.” Not necessarily. Small dimples or puckering near a thread are a known side effect, and many settle as the swelling goes down. One that stays should be checked.

If you're judging any clinic by its case photos, learn how to read a clinic's case photos first. Lighting, angle and time since treatment all change what you see.

Say your jawline has started to blur and you have five days in Seoul

Say you're 44, you live in Toronto, and the line between your jaw and neck has softened over two years. There's some fullness under your chin, your cheeks are thin and dry, and you have five days in Seoul before flying home.

Here's how I would reason. The softened jawline is a thread question. The fullness under the chin decides whether threads alone are enough; if it's mostly fat, Minus Fat makes more sense than extra threads. The dry, thin cheeks are a skin quality question, and adding something like Rejuran on the same trip is a trade-off between cost and recovery time.

If texture bothers you more than sag, start with whether you need microneedling with a skin booster and which facial areas a skin booster can cover before you think about threads.

Then the calendar. The clinic is open Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 20:00 and Saturday from 10:00 to 16:00, and closed on Sundays and public holidays. If you land on a Saturday night, Monday is your first possible day. Put the procedure early in the trip, keep the last days for swelling to settle, and ask at booking how much room to leave before your flight.

How long is recovery, and what does week two look like?

For the face, bruising and swelling usually ease over the first two weeks for many people. A pulling feeling near the entry points, or when chewing and yawning, is common in the early days.

By the second week, many people look close to their usual selves in daylight, though some firmness or unevenness can still be felt under the skin. Two weeks in is usually mostly settled, not yet final.

For the body, the clinic's guide says no hospital stay is needed, the procedure uses partial anesthesia, and you can return to daily activities right away. Bruising and swelling generally fade within one to two weeks. Avoid sauna, massage and hard exercise for one to two weeks.

Once you know how much recovery your trip can absorb, send your flight-home date and the day you're back at work on WhatsApp. Asking with those two dates tells you early whether one trip fits the plan you want.

What can go wrong after you fly home?

The common reactions are temporary: bruising, swelling, soreness, tightness and small dimples near the threads. For most people these ease over days to about two weeks.

Less often, bleeding, infection or inflammation can occur. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons also lists threads that become visible or can be felt, asymmetry and thread migration among the possible risks.

As general medicine, it's wiser to wait or skip a thread lift if you have:

  • an active skin infection, acne flare or inflammation in the area
  • a pregnancy, or you are breastfeeding
  • a bleeding disorder, or blood-thinning medicine you haven't discussed with the doctor
  • a tendency to keloids or raised scars
  • a lot of loose, heavy skin, where surgery may suit you more
  • a recent procedure in the same area

Results vary by individual, and whether a thread lift suits you is decided at the in-person exam.

At home, redness that spreads, heat, pus, fever, or a thread end you can feel poking through needs a local doctor promptly. Send photos of the area to the clinic on WhatsApp as well. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advises medical travelers to carry copies of their records home and arrange follow-up care where they live before they travel.

What to send first

Send two daylight photos on WhatsApp, front and side, name the one area you'd change if you could change only one, and add your dates in Seoul. Ask one question: what would it cost for my case, and what does that figure include? The clinic replies with available times, and you can ask before booking anything. When you come in, the doctor examines your face and recommends the plan that fits it, whether that's threads, a different first step or a smaller plan than you expected.

Questions we get about thread lift korea cost

Do you offer a nose thread lift?
Nose thread lifting isn't on our treatment menu. Our thread lifting covers the face line, such as sagging along the jawline and cheeks, and body areas through Body Ssok lifting.
Is a chin thread lift possible?
Our face thread lifting is aimed at sagging along the jawline and cheeks. Where the fullness under the chin is mostly fat, the three-step face line program pairs threads with Minus Fat injections. A side photo with your chin level shows which of the two is bothering you.
Will a thread lift leave marks on my face?
The entry points are placed inside the hairline, not on the face. Temporary bruising or swelling can still occur.
Can I combine a thread lift with Rejuran on one trip?
Yes, thread lifting can be combined with Rejuran. Each added step adds to the cost and to what your skin is recovering from before the flight, so ask for the figure with and without it.
How do I get from the airport to the clinic?
From Incheon Airport, take limousine bus 6007 to the Eugene Investment & Securities stop behind Conrad Hotel and walk about 5 minutes. From Gimpo Airport, Line 9 runs to Yeouido Station; the clinic is about 4 minutes on foot from Exit 4. The limousine stop back to Incheon is in front of the clinic.

Results vary by individual. Every procedure carries the possibility of side effects, explained before you agree to treatment. This article is general information from the clinic, not a diagnosis. Suitability is decided at the consultation.
