PDRN Injection Korea: Can a Pharmacy Cream Do the Same Job? Not Really
PDRN injection Korea questions, answered by a Seoul doctor: how it differs from pharmacy creams, PN vs PDRN, real limits, and what to send before you book.

The phrase “PDRN injection Korea” usually points to one thing on a clinic menu: salmon-DNA fragments placed into the dermis with fine needles, either as PDRN or as its longer-chain relative, PN. Injected, the molecule reaches the layer where collagen-making cells sit, which the PDRN serums and balms on Korean pharmacy shelves aren't built to do. If you're working in Asia with one long weekend off, the worry tends to be blunt: will I spend the rest of the trip with bumps on my face for something a cream could have done? What I inject at Time Return is Rejuran, PharmaResearch's PN line, by hand, after I've looked at your skin in person.
If that cream-or-needle question is where you're stuck, send a daylight photo of the area that bothers you on WhatsApp, without a filter, and ask exactly that.
Can a Korean PDRN cream do what the injection does?
Not in the same way. The outer layer of your skin is built to keep large molecules out. A widely cited paper in Experimental Dermatology on the “500 Dalton rule” describes how compounds much above that size pass through intact skin poorly, and DNA fragments, even the shorter PDRN kind, are many times larger.
That doesn't make the pharmacy tubes pointless. A PDRN moisturizer or balm still works as a moisturizer: it holds water at the surface, and dry skin feels more comfortable under it. What it can't do is carry the molecule down into the dermis, about 0.5 to 2 mm below the surface by area, where the fibroblasts that make collagen and elastin live. A needle puts it there directly.
If dry skin is your main complaint, one detail matters. One of the Rejuran products I use pairs PN with hyaluronic acid, and it's often chosen for dry skin that needs hydration as well. Which product, or which combination, I decide after assessing your skin.
Doctor's note
If you've used a PDRN serum for months and your fine lines look the same, I wouldn't blame the serum or yourself. It was asked to work from the wrong side of the skin barrier. When I see you, I check thickness, texture and sensitivity first, and only then set the depth and amount. Sometimes what your skin needs this trip is moisturizer and sunscreen, and I'd rather tell you that than inject.
Are PDRN and PN the same molecule?
Related, not identical. Both come from salmon DNA. A review in Pharmaceutics comparing the two describes PN as longer DNA fragments with a higher molecular weight and greater viscosity, forming a gel-like structure, and PDRN as shorter sequences that behave more like a fluid. The same review points out that many studies use the two terms interchangeably, which is one reason forum advice gets muddled.
So when a menu says “PDRN”, ask which product it actually is. Rejuran is PN. PharmaResearch makes several versions, and the letter after the name tells you what each is for; I've covered that in what the Rejuran S, I and H letters mean.
Is it a filler that shows the next morning?
No. PN doesn't add volume the way a hyaluronic acid filler does. What you see the next morning is mostly the injection itself: small raised bumps where the product sits for a short time. In our experience they usually settle in about 1 to 3 days, and mild redness in about 1 to 2 days. It varies by person.
The change people come for, firmer texture and softer fine lines, relies on the dermis responding, and that's gradual. It's also why I don't promise a number of sessions before I've seen your skin. If your next question is how long a course holds, how long Rejuran lasts and what decides it goes through that.
Thin skin under the eyes is its own case. There's a Rejuran product made for the eye area, and what it can and can't change there is set out in Rejuran under the eyes.
Same product, different hands
Rejuran is the genuine product at every clinic that uses it. The difference is how accurately it reaches the thin dermis. Shallow injections hurt more, so when pain isn't under control, product can end up deeper than the dermis, where it does less.
I inject by hand, adjusting depth, pressure and angle point by point and keeping the points closely and evenly spaced. That's my own method, and I set the spacing for each person and each area. Genuine product at the exact dose is a standing rule here. The longer explanation is in why hand injection suits thin skin.
Does it hurt more than people admit?
In short, it stings, and for some people that's the reason they've put it off for years. PN is a thick, viscous liquid pushed into dense dermis, so it presses on the nerves around it. That pressure can't be removed entirely. It can be managed.
For this I use plasma 5-step anesthesia (5A+), our own numbing system. You pick a level from 0+ to 5+, and level 0+ equals the numbing cream typically used in dermatology. Tell me at the start if injections have gone badly for you before, so the level can be set with that in mind.
What the evidence does and doesn't show
The research is real, and younger than the marketing. Laboratory studies link PN and PDRN to more active fibroblasts and matrix production, while human evidence is still more limited. The Pharmaceutics review notes small sample sizes in some PN studies, and a systematic review of polynucleotides in aesthetic medicine, published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, gathers the clinical studies so far. If someone describes this as proven to reverse aging, they're going past the data.
Risks and side effects to know
Expected and short-lived: stinging during the injections, small bumps, mild redness and some swelling. Bruising can appear at individual points, especially where vessels sit close to the surface. Like any injection, it can cause bleeding, infection or inflammation, which is why aftercare matters. Results vary by individual.
Some situations call for waiting: an active breakout or skin infection in the area, pregnancy (many doctors postpone elective injections then), or a known allergy, including to fish, since PN is salmon-derived. Whether the treatment suits your skin is decided at the in-person exam.
PDRN injection Korea on a long weekend: how the days fit
Message us before you book flights. For Rejuran the director handles everything from consultation to injection, and waits can run from weeks to months. We're open Monday to Friday 10:00 to 20:00 and Saturday 10:00 to 16:00, closed Sundays and public holidays.
Say you land at Gimpo on Friday evening. Line 9 runs to Yeouido Station, and the clinic is about four minutes on foot from Exit 4. A Saturday slot, if one is open, leaves Sunday for the bumps to start settling. Light makeup is fine after 24 hours. Wash with lukewarm water that day, keep using moisturizer and sunscreen, and skip scrubs and exfoliating products for the first few days.
The part that catches people is the evening plan. For about a week, avoid saunas, steam rooms, hot baths and hard exercise, and keep alcohol and smoking out of it for 1 to 2 weeks. If your friends have a bathhouse night planned, schedule the injection after it. If you're flying home from Incheon, the limousine bus stop back to the airport is right in front of the clinic.
Send your arrival and departure dates on WhatsApp, and say whether Saturday is your only day; we reply with available times.
Whatever you've read under “PDRN injection Korea” in the forums, the label on the product tells you less than where it lands in your skin. When you message us on WhatsApp, add the name of the serum or cream you've been using and for how long. It's an easy detail to forget, and it says a lot about what your skin has already tried.
